About: Shayna
Upon completing graduate school at Goldsmiths, University of London, where Shayna held her second internship at a London-based boutique jewelry brand, she moved to New York City to pursue her career. Going on to work on the creative teams of myriad beauty, fashion and lifestyle brands in New York City for over a decade, Shayna never gave up on her dream of designing fine jewelry.
In 2023, after years of attending jewelry shows, collecting treasures and experimenting with pieces for herself, she began pursuing bench work and gemology courses while working full-time as an Editorial Director. Through academic courses at the GIA and hands-on studio work at art schools in New York City and West Palm Beach, she gained enough momentum to storytell in a new way: high-karat gold & antique stones.
While possessing an innate desire to be creative, Shayna was wholly shaped by the distinct experience that is being the child of immigrants. Surrounded by a variety of Caribbean cultures throughout her youth, she was raised by inventive women who exuded strength and individuality, never losing their capacities to dream—allowing her the privilege of maintaining a close connection to her imagination.
The intuitive style and eclectic influences that are reflective of those who came before her can be found threaded throughout Shayna's work, as she prides herself in collaborating with artisans from immigrant communities in both Florida and New York.
From conceptualization and ethical stone sourcing to casting and setting, the privilege of creating these works are the touchstone for Shayna. Every handmade piece holds the opportunity for the merging of traditional craftsmanship within new cultural contexts.
